Westell Achieves UL Certification on Fuse Panels
Three of Westell’s most popular GMT-style fuse panel models earn the widely respected UL mark
AURORA, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Westell Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: WSTL)(“Westell”), a leading provider of telecommunications equipment for wireline, wireless and home networks, today announced that it has achieved Underwriters Laboratories (UL) certification on three of the most popular DC power distribution GMT-style fuse panels designed by the company’s Noran Tel division.
Westell fuse panels have been ideally suited for a broad number of applications that, until now, were not open to Westell due to customer requirements for UL certification. The UL certification, now provided in addition to the ETL and CSA certifications that Westell has offered on its fuse panels, will meet requirements from existing customers and help to open new markets for these panels.
UL's safety certification services include testing, evaluation and factory surveillance of products to meet or exceed national, regional and international safety standards. The three models of DC power distribution GMT-style fuse panels that have achieved UL certification – NPGMT1012, NPGMT1107 and NPGMT1122 – completed numerous tests including the Electrical Safety Requirements for Information Technology Equipment as detailed in UL 60950-1 2nd Ed.
“This UL certification is a testament to the skill and expertise of the power distribution engineers in our Noran Tel design center located in Regina, Saskatchewan,” said Chris Shaver, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Westell Technologies. “Our team has designed an exemplary line of fuse panels, and we’re pleased to now offer these products with the widely known and respected UL mark.”
Westell plans to seek UL certification on additional fuse panel models, including both GMT and TPA styles. Additional information on Westell’s Noran Tel power distribution products is available at: http://www.westell.com/products/power-distribution.
