Westell Launches New Intelligent Site Management Offering
Providing More Options for Managing Remote Sites
AURORA, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Westell Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: WSTL), a global leader of intelligent site and outside plant solutions, today announced the release of the Kentrox® Remote RMC-700 for site monitoring, management, and control. The Remote RMC-700 joins the Remote RMX-3200 and RMM-1400 in the Remote suite of products to provide a full range of options for managing the entire support infrastructure.
Similar to the RMX-3200 and RMM-1400, the Remote RMC-700 is a cost-effective monitoring and control site device for machine-to-machine (M2M) enablement of remote locations. It is application-centric and provides comprehensive IP management and access capabilities to sites and the managed passive equipment. Site alarm monitoring, performance data, and advanced equipment management can all be managed through an Ethernet or wireless backhaul connection, enabling service providers and tower operators to effectively and proactively manage their sites, usually without a site visit.
Because of the Remote RMC-700’s small size, it can be installed in nearly any roadside, tower, or cell site enclosure. This “intelligent enclosure” can then provide critical data, including temperature, humidity, and DC power quality. This continuous monitoring helps protect equipment and ensure 100% availability. With Westell’s extensive line of outdoor enclosures, the RMC-700 provides the option for intelligent enclosures to meet almost any business need.
The RMC-700 supports any two applications from the Kentrox suite, such as generator management, fuel monitoring, environmental monitoring, HVAC monitoring or control, and aircraft warning light management. It is an intelligent extension of the Kentrox Optima Management System® and is designed to enhance a service provider’s or tower operator’s network management strategy, reduce operating costs, and improve operational efficiency.
“No two sites are the same due to environmental conditions, differing infrastructure, power systems, and so much more,” said Ben Stump, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Westell. “To ensure we address all requirements for intelligent site management, we’ve introduced the RMC-700 for sites that require only a minimal number of applications to be monitored. With the entire Remote suite of products, we now provide our customers a complete range of options for managing their applications, whether it is one or ten.”
