SUMMARY: Responsible for performing product and process appraisals that verify conformance of workmanship, assembly, cosmetic, and functional performance requirements. Perform QA audits also provide assurances that upstream manufacturing processes are functioning effectively to ensure consistently high quality output.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Determine the required sample sizes for each product, determine the priority for audit, and select product samples from each department.
- Determine inspection documentation necessary to perform the product appraisals and determine / retrieve the necessary product specifications from Agile. Such documentation includes inspection instructions, workmanship standards (e.g., IPCA-610), and Bills-Of -Material that provide product and software revision information.
- Perform inspection of PCB assemblies, product subassemblies, finished Westell products, product delivered from subcontract manufacturers or ODM suppliers, return and repaired product.
- Perform audits of packaged products to ensure products have been completely tested/configured at upstream manufacturing processes and that all product accessories and documentation are present.
- Perform audit of product to be shipped to determine if all packaging, shipping, and customer palletization requirements have been complied with.
- Using test equipment and test procedures, perform electrical and functional verifications of products (either manufactured at Westell or, on an incoming basis, by an ODM manufacturer) to validate conformance to specifications and customer performance requirements.
- Perform and document first article inspections and first shipments of products produced by subcontract manufacturers or ODM suppliers to verify supplier has met the specifications required by Engineering.
- Perform audit of manufacturing assembly processes and of manufacturing test processes to ensure production assemblers and testers are compliant with documented assembly methods and with documented test methods.
- Record inspection and audit results using provided data collection forms or by entering product inspection and audit data into computerized quality information database.
- Use appropriate gauges (torque screwdrivers, calipers, or custom-gauges) to measure various product features and attributes.
- Provide feedback of inspection and test results to appropriate manufacturing management (i.e.; supervisors or managers) and ensure management understands the findings.
- Assist Quality Manager in generating inspection criteria and documentation.
- Provide e-mail communications to quality organization and when necessary, to manufacturing supervisors and managers.
- Manage non-conforming materials in MRB, completing MRR (Material Review Report) and ensuring proper action with supplier has been taken.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- High School Education or equivalent.
- Training in IPCA-610 workmanship requirements for electronic assemblies.
- Knowledge of SAP or equivalent MRP program, run reports, manage MRB material and disposition of them.
- Knowledge of Agile to access Bills of Material and ability to look up product change histories, ECOs and Deviations.
