eSmartJack™ Ethernet Extension Device

The eSmartJack™ is an Ethernet Extension Device which has been purpose built for Ethernet service handoff applications. This fully managed NI8102 is designed especially for “edge” applications, deploying the latest in reliability and security for harsh environments, on the perimeter of the network so that Ethernet service can be delivered anywhere.

The eSmartJack can also be used in cellular backhaul applications. By simply plugging the device into any available slot in a CellPak or any 400 mechanics housing, it will deliver all the performance monitoring and fault isolation functionality of the original SmartJack, plus the addition of the SiteVu™ telemetry system – all at GigE speed.

SiteVu™ Secure remote monitoring telemetry features include:

  • Internal temperature
  • External temperature probe input*
  • Input voltage level monitor
  • A/B voltage monitor
  • 4 external telemetry inputs; for doors, power supplies, alarms, and other external sources*

*Requires installation in SiteVu enabled mountings, such as Westell's EMAS mounting series.

  • Enables cellular backhaul providers to deliver native Ethernet from the same CellPak cabinet used throughout most of the U.S. today
  • Provides the network-to-customer interface with complete control and visibility of the termination point
  • Reduces operator OPEX through its simple plug-and-play design that virtually eliminates the need for onsite engineer expertise
  • Reduces operator CAPEX with the ability to add Ethernet transport demarcations to existing CellPak and also allowing the installing of up to 4 Ethernet demarcations in a single, compact CellPak enclosure
  • Offers flexibility in configuration options when used in CellPak, allowing the operator to transport Ethernet in combination with DS1 if desired

  • SiteVu™ Secure for unprecedented situational awareness of system voltage, temperature, and status of external devices like doors, water detectors, rectifiers, and smoke detectors
  • Two 10/100/1000 copper, or two SPF 100FX/GigE
  • Small Form Pluggable (SFP) optics with digital data
  • Westell Edge Operating System (WEOS) with standards-based 802.3ah Ethernet OAM functionality to isolate and diagnose network problems
  • SNMP v1/v2/v3 management
  • Service OAM (CFM, 802.1ag) Connectivity Fault Management
  • End‐to‐End Performance Monitoring (Y.1731)
  • Link OAM (EFM, 802.3ah) Ethernet in the First Mile
  • MEF certified compliant for cellular backhaul
  • 802.1p QoS prioritization
  • Jumbo Frame support, frame sizes up to 10,240 (NI8102)
  • Secure web management GUI and CLI interfaces
  • Temperature hardened -40 to +85° C
  • Wide DC input voltage range of 20 to 56Vdc
  • Dual/redundant DC power supply inputs for high availability
  • Industry standard 400 mechanics
